Chicago!

First, click on any of these for close-ups.

Second, Chicago was BEAUTIFUL! And so, so fun! My list grew of what to do when we are there next time. The weather was as perfect as you could ask for; the sun, the clouds, the wind. Perfect. And the smells of all the food cooking! I think my favorite part was all the water-front beauty. I certainly did not expect anything so serene and lovely.

Third, the people there were amazing; truly friendly and very helpful. I can't tell you of the number of times we were stopped by THEM and asked if we needed help finding anything or if we needed advice on anything (which is how we found the Cajun restaurant for lunch). Its probably because we looked like celebrities. Because celebrities walk around Chicago hauling their carry-on luggage with them, right?..... yeah.... maybe not! : )

At this point, you may be wondering why we had luggage with us. Well, the story is that we were going to Grand Rapids, MI for a couple of days for a business conference, and the PLAN was to play in Chicago for a couple of days, too. Its rather a long story, but we were able to squeeze in some Chicago play-time at the tail-end of the trip,.... after returning our rental car, and after checking out of our hotel, but before our flight that evening. We had no choice but to make our carry-on our little friend for the afternoon. Three's a little bit of a crowd, but if you have a muscular husband who is willing to do the hauling for you, well, you can do just about anything!!! : )

About to board the "L" public transportation subway.

Downtown!!!

"The Bean" @ Millennium Park

The Amphitheater at Millennium Park. Andrew HAD to go have a listen, of course!

Modern art sculptures in the park

The two buildings that look like mini-sky-scrapers are actually super, super tall fountains; which made for a popular kiddie-play area that warm day!

At the gardens near Millennium Park

On one of the piers. You can see Navy Pier directly behind me, but we didn't have time to walk there.

Beautiful view along Michigan lake and the quaint Marina in the background.

Gorgeous views along the waterfront!

Stroll along the Chicago river. We had to take our luggage with us, which was fortunately a carry-on!

Cajun food, anyone? Yum!

On the "L," heading back to the airport. It felt great to sit!

P.S. Don't ask me why some of these letters are blue, some are black, and some are underlined. Today the blog has a mind of its own!

When we went to Paris, the thing a loved most (exept the museums) where the great parks and gardens they have there. On sunny warm days, everyone goes there. Such fun!!!
